MEMS Microphone
A MEMS microphone is a type of electro-acoustic transducer that combines a sensor (MEMS) and an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) into a single IC. The sensor converts varying incoming sound pressure to capacitance variations, which the ASIC then converts to analog or digital output. MEMS microphones are commonly used in wired and wireless headsets, as well as true wireless (TWS) earbuds, for communications or noise cancellation.
